The World Health Organization (WHO) classified burnout as an occupational phenomenon. This session is an integrative, neuroscience-informed brain based psychotherapy (BBT) presentation that will provide a top-down, bottom-up, and horizontal approach to mental health and well being. This BBT conceptualization will illustrate and draw from a range of evidence-based psychotherapies, including compassion focused therapy (CFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, positive psychology, and interpersonal psychotherapy. It is designed to educate rheumatology professionals about a diverse toolbox of strategies to access calm, coping, and resiliency.
This session aims to provide a space to explore a range of coping strategies to help both the healthcare team and our clients. This continues to be an unprecedented time in which remote working, social isolation, economic uncertainty, and lack of access to community resources are placing multi-level stressors on clients, families, and healthcare providers alike. This session is an opportunity for rheumatology professionals to learn coping strategies and access positive support for dealing with burnout.
