Many researchers, practitioners, and educators seek to publish their scholarly work in journals, textbooks, and other academic periodicals, but the path to success in publishing is not clear. With this in mind, this session will bring together a panel of editors of journals, textbooks, book series, and The Rheumatologist to provide the audience with discrete pearls for success in publishing their work. Topics to be discussed during the panel discussion will include: most common mistakes made by authors; ways to impress an editor; writing for your intended audience; and teamwork and time management strategies for collaborative writing efforts.

  • Identify most common mistakes that authors make when seeking to publish their work.
  • Describe high-yield tips for success in publishing and impressing editors of periodicals.
  • Devise specific actions that will allow for planning and execution of superior scientific writing.
