Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis in older adults and chronic pain is a cardinal symptom. Medications used for OA are limited by efficacy and tolerability and may even be contraindicated due to comorbidities and/or drug interactions. Therefore, nonpharmacologic strategies are a critical first-line modality, especially for older adults. This session will aim to provide an overview of nonpharmacologic strategies for pain management in older adults with OA, focusing on rehabilitation strategies. Occupational therapy (OT), including cognitive behavioral approaches (mindfulness and relaxation), and exercise interventions for OA-related pain will be reviewed in this session. Innovative strategies to enhance motivation for exercise and physical activity among older adults will also be reviewed
