In this session, participants will learn tips from expert speakers on reading, interpreting, and crafting strong letters of recommendation for medical trainees and colleague peers. In addition to providing short presentations, the speakers will provide real-world examples of commonly encountered problems in letters of recommendation (LORs), such as biased language. In addition, the speakers will provide suggestions to help highlight a trainees's strengths and individualize the letter of recommendation, even in the midst of standardized templates.

Learning Objectives:

  • Mitigate bias in letters of recommendation.
  • Use available tools and resources to minimize bias in our letters of recommendation.
  • Define best practices in writing impactful letters of recommendation.
