Complement and coagulation are interconnected proteolytic cascades that are required to mediate wound healing and prevent excessive bleeding but can become dysregulated, leading to abnormal clotting and tissue inflammation. Examples of relevant diseases are antiphospholipid syndrome, thrombotic microangiopathy, and placental injury mediated by antiphospholipid antibodies. This session will address new insights into the interaction of complement and coagulation cascades and potential mechanisms of tissue injury.
