Dr. Melissa Klein, MD, MEd is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She is a general pediatrician, medical educator, and researcher. At Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, she serves as the Associate Division Director for Career Development and Education in the Division of General and Community Pediatrics, the Associate Director of the Cincinnati Children’s Pediatric Education Center, and the Medical Director of the Masters of Education program. Her main research focuses on development, implementation and evaluation of innovative education and training experiences that impact child health. She has created several educational experiences to improve resident physician identification of the social determinants of health during routine primary care visits and mitigation of these risks through development of academic-community partnerships. She serves as the education physician champion of Child HeLP, a primary care embedded medical legal partnership, and is a key leader of clinical-community collaborations to mitigate food insecurity, including a Pediatric Primary Care embedded food panties. On the national level, she is the Director of the Academic Pediatric Association’s Educational Scholars Program, serves on the Board of the Academic Pediatric Association and is an Associate Editor of Education for Academic Pediatrics.
