Sam Brondfield, MD, MAEd, is an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF in the Division of Hematology/Oncology and Chief of the Inpatient Oncology Consult Service at UCSF’s Moffitt-Long Hospital. He completed medical school, internal medicine residency, chief residency, and oncology fellowship at UCSF. He works as a hospital-based oncologist and clinician educator, attending on the solid tumor consult service as well as the hospital medicine teaching service. His mission is to educate generalists and trainees in solid oncology. His research focuses on cognitive load and subspecialty training. He is a founding member and Chair of the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Medical Education Community of Practice, an international group focused on medical education in oncology. At UCSF, he is part of the educational leadership team for three medical school courses and director of inpatient oncology medical student and resident electives. He greatly enjoys teaching oncology to students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians.
