Nicole Orzechowski is a rheumatologist and an associate professor of medicine in the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she serves as medical director of the Rheumatology clinic. She received her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002 followed by Internal Medicine residency and Rheumatology fellowship at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, MN.
Following her fellowship training, Dr. Orzechowski spent 12 years at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, serving as the Section Chief of Rheumatology as well as the Program Director for the Rheumatology Fellowship from 2014-2020. She was co-director for Dartmouth’s Scleroderma Center of Excellence and is certified in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound. Her clinical interests include the use of ultrasound for the diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis and musculoskeletal disorders and the treatment of patients with scleroderma, vasculitis and lupus.
She is an active Clinician-Educator, mentoring medical students, residents and fellows. She is a volunteer at the American College of Rheumatology, having served on the Committee on Training and Workforce and the In-Training exam subcommittee. She currently serves on the eLearning subcommittee and is part of a 3 person working group overseeing the updating of the Rheum2Learn modules.
