Sarfaraz Hasni is the Director of Lupus Clinical Research and Associate Research Physician at the National Institute of Arthritis, Musculoskeletal, and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. He did his Post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology from State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Master of Health Sciences in Clinical Research from Duke University. Dr. Hasni conducted several proof of concept clinical trials based on discoveries primarily made at the NIH. He is the core teaching faculty for the rheumatology fellowship training program and a mentor of the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN). He established a regional network for advancing clinical research in SLE called DC Lupus Consortium (DCLC). He is an advisory member of Lupus Research Alliance for COVID vaccines, American College of Rheumatology designated Expert on Call, Research Advisor of Arthritis Care Foundation, Chairperson for the Scientific Review Committee Lupus Research Program for the U.S. Department of Defense, Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs and Co-Chair Clinical Research Committee, Assembly of Scientists at the NIH. Dr. Hasni has been invited to present his research at multiple regional, national and international conferences, medical grand rounds, patient summits and is recipient of several awards for his work. He has authored more than 50 publications and book chapters.
