Tadej Avcin is Head of Department of Allergology, Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at the Children's Hospital, University Medical Center Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Medicine (Slovenia). He studied medicine and pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and completed fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at the Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto (Canada). His clinical and research focus are systemic autoimmune and auto-inflammatory diseases with an emphasis on juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic connective tissue diseases and diseases of immune dysregulation. He has published more than 165 indexed publications and 19 book chapters on pediatric rheumatology and immunology. He is currently Secretary of the Paediatric Rheumatology European Association (PReS), past Chairman of the European League Against Rheumatism Standing Committee on Pediatric Rheumatology, and Member of the Advisory Council of Paediatric Rheumatology International Trials Organisation.
