Dr. Clark is currently Chief of Rheumatology and Director, Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Chicago. He received his M.D. at the University of California, Los Angeles and was a rheumatology fellow at the University of California, San Francisco. He was then a research instructor at National Jewish Center before joining the faculty at the University of Chicago. Dr. Clark has a long-standing interest in mechanisms of B cell antigen receptor (BCR) and pre-BCR signaling and how they regulate specific cell fate decisions both during development and in the periphery in response to antigen. More recently, Dr. Clark and colleagues have examined in situ mechanisms of adaptive immunity and how they contribute to tubulointerstitial inflammation in both human lupus nephritis and renal allograft rejection. This work has changed current thinking and has yielded novel quantitative methods widely applicable to the study of human disease.
