Cynthia Aranow, MD, is a rheumatologist specializing in lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. She received her medical degree from NYU School of Medicine, and completed her internship, residency and rheumatology training at Montefiore Hospital and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. She is currently a Professor of Medicine at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine Hofstra University, Northwell Health. Before arriving at the Feinstein, she was at Columbia University Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Downstate Medical Center as well as New York Medical College. Throughout her career, Dr. Aranow has focused on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and autoimmune diseases. She has received the Edmund Dubois Memorial Award in recognition of excellence and accomplishment in the study of SLE.
At the Feinstein, Dr. Aranow is the director of the NIH funded Clinical Autoimmunity Center of Excellence. She is a member of multiple international and national lupus organizations, serves on the executive board of the Systemic Lupus International Cooperating Clinics (SLICC). In addition, Dr. Aranow is a member of the Medical Scientific Advisory Council of the Lupus Foundation of America, serves on the Steering Committee of the Lupus Research Alliance’s Clinical Investigators Network (LuCIN), as well as the Steering Committee of the international effort to define remission in SLE (DORIS).
