I am a physician scientist and practicing rheumatologist. Through my research, I have identified a polymorphism in the complement receptor 2 gene that is protective for systemic lupus erythematosus, and I am currently investigating its molecular and immunologic mechanisms and effects on clinical outcomes. My goal is to use this information to develop new treatments for patients with lupus and other autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
