Her translational research has focused on methotrexate and its effect upon the folate pathway, utilizing cellular biomarkers and genetic differences to predict drug efficacy and minimize toxicity in patients with JIA. Her work has expanded to include the investigation of novel cytokine biomarkers and metabolomics, the interrogation of the folate pathway in patients with Down syndrome, and the exploration of biologic therapeutic drug monitoring in JIA and IBD. Throughout the years, her work has been funded by the Kansas City Areas Life Sciences Institute, the PhRMA Foundation, the Rheumatology Research Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.
