Olga Sanchez Pernaute is Associate Chief of the Dept of Rheumatology and Coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Unit for Systemic Autoimmune Diseases at the Jimenez Diaz Foundation University Hospital in Madrid. Besides her MD and her residency in Rheumatology, she attended training in basic research in the field of inflammation and arthritis. After gaining her PhD degree, she started a research line focused on the role of fibrin on synovitis and did a 1 year post-doc fellowship at the Department of Experimental Rheumatology of Zürich, led by Prof. Steffen Gay. Dr. Sanchez Pernaute has received Grants and Awards from Fundación Conchita Rábago Foundation, Spanish Society for Rheumatology, Ministry of Science and Education, Madrid’s Society for Rheumatology, Carlos III Health Research Institute, and Quironsalud Foundation. Currently, Olga distributes her working time between patient care, education and research with a special interest in the search for molecular markers and targets in particular autoimmune syndromes, including fibrosing interstitial lung diseases.
