Isabel Castrejon (MD PhD), is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Associate Professor at the Hospital Universitario Gregorio Marañón (HUGM) and the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, Spain. She is the actual Principal Investigator of BIOBADASER (https://www.ser.es/biobadaser/) and the Clinical Lead of the Early Arthritis Program at HUGM (REUCARE), where she has contributed to develop a successful collaboration with the primary care physicians in the hospital area for early referral. This initiative is supported by two grants from the National Health System in Spain. Following the completion of her PhD at the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid in 2014 she has worked as an Assistant Professor at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago (2014-2019) and as a clinical researcher at NYU-Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York (2010-2014). Representative in the Section of Specialists in Rheumatology of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) and coordinator of the Group of Rheumatology Based Evidence of the Spanish Society of Rheumatology (SER) since November 2020. Her academic activity is largely focused on translational research where her main areas of interest are early arthritis with a special focus on the role of patient reported outcomes in a patient centred care and biologic therapies. Dr. Castrejon has published more than 110 papers in high-impact journals. She currently combines her clinical activity with her research and teaching activities.
