Dr. David Simon is a Senior Clinician Scientist with extensive experience in clinical and imaging research as well as Head of the Clinical Trail Unit of the Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin. His particular scientific focus lies on early arthritis detection, innovative imaging, and conducting clinical trials. He is Principal Investigator of several studies and recipient of various awards such as the Else Kröner-Memorial Scholarship 2019 (Else Kröner-Fresenius Stiftung), the Ideas Competition 2019 (German Rheumatology Foundation (Deutsche Rheumastiftung)), the Science Award 2020, Science Award 2021, Science Award 2022 (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Junge Rheumatologie – rheumadocs, German Society for Rheumatology (DGRh)), the Carol-Nachman-Young Investigator Award 2021 (German Rheumatology Foundation) or the DGRh Forschungsinitiative 2025, German Society of Rheumatology (DGRh). Dr. David Simon has published more than 110 peer-reviewed scientific papers in prestigious international journals (e.g. Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Communications, Lancet Rheumatology, Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, Arthritis & Rheumatology, etc.). In addition, he is a peer reviewer for the most important journals of rheumatology and immunology.
