Rita Spathis is a Senior Research Technician with an MS in Biomedical Anthropology. She currently works on mouse models autoimmune myositis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. She has previously worked in the field of molecular anthropology on the origins, migrations and genetic characteristics of Pacific populations; the molecular basis of chloroquine resistance of Plasmodium falciparum and the prevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi in Ixodes scapularis in the Southern Tier region of New York State. In her free time Rita enjoys swimming, biking and listening to podcasts.
