Bente Langdahl is Professor at Aarhus University and Consultant at the Department of Endocrinology and Internal Medicine at Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. Bente Langdahl graduated from the medical school at Aarhus University in 1988 and did her clinical training in internal medicine and endocrinology at Aarhus University Hospital. Bente Langdahl attained her PhD at Aarhus University with the thesis title “Investigations on a possible pathogenic role of thyroid hormones in postmenopausal osteoporosis”. Professor Langdahl also received her DMSc at Aarhus University for the thesis “The genetics of bone mass and risk of osteoporotic fractures”.
Bente Langdahl’s main research interests are the development of new treatments and the long-term management of osteoporosis, the impact of diabetes, thyroid diseases, and HIV on bone health, the identification and investigation of genetic variants that imply increased risk of osteoporotic fractures, and osteogenesis imperfecta in adults. Bente Langdahl has 250 publications.
She is co-chair of the International Federation of Musculoskeletal Research Societies and past-president of the European Calcified Tissue Society.
