Belén Atienza-Mateo received her medical degree in 2014 from University of Cantabria, Spain. She completed her residency in Rheumatology at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital in Santander, Spain in 2019. Since then, she works as a rheumatologist at the same hospital, with special dedication to patients with systemic sclerosis or CTD-ILD. She performed an internship at the Reggio Emilia and Modena hospitals (Italy) and later at the Royal Brompton hospital of London (UK) and at the Leiden University Medical Center (Netherlands). She has recently obtained a Ph.D. based on studies about novel therapies for refractory Behçet's disease.
