Melissa French is the Content Director at the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA). In this
capacity she directs the National Resource Center on Lupus, an online collection of health
education resources and self-management tools for people with lupus. She also oversees the
LFA’s collection of health education print resources. She is the project director for Strategies to Embrace Living with Lupus Fearlessly (SELF), an evidence-based online self-management program developed for people with lupus.
Before joining the LFA, Melissa was the director of the Roundtable on Health Literacy of the
National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). As director of the
roundtable, Melissa planned and led public workshops on health literacy related topics for
researchers, practitioners, and the public. She is the author of a number of NASEM publications
on health literacy and health communication.
Melissa has a Masters of Science in health and medical policy from the Schar School of Policy
and Government of George Mason University.
