In this session, the speakers will give an overview of the community practice (CoP) model, applications for medical educators, and their experiences with developing a successful medical educator CoP in their own professional societies (IDSA and ASCO) (15 minutes each). In the second half of the session, participants will break into small groups for ~15 minutes to discuss ideas for the development of an ACR Med Ed community of practice, with a focus on vision and goals. At the end of the session (final 15 minutes), participants will return to the large group to share highlights of their small group discussions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define a clinician educator community of practice
  • Discuss the development and implementation of medical education communities of practice in two internal medicine subspecialty professional societies
  • Collaborate with rheumatology clinician educators to develop a vision and goals for a rheumatology clinician educator community of practice
