This panel will highlight the current trends and challenges with recruitment, retention, and sustainment of the rheumatology workforce by discussing the strategies health systems, provider groups, payers, and industry partners can take to address workforce challenges. This session will focus on immediate and mid-term actions that can be implemented across practice settings and geographies to promote the value of rheumatology within the healthcare ecosystem and build sustainable partnerships for care.

Learning Objectives:

  • Examine the current challenges impeding recruitment, retention, and sustainment of rheumatologists, particularly in underserved areas.
  • Strategize mechanisms for provider practices and healthy systems to more successfully recruit, retain, and sustain rheumatology practice across a variety of settings.
  • Explore programs and initiatives that provider groups, payers, and health systems can implement to improve daily practice life for rheumatology providers and improve patient access to rheumatologic care.
