Cognitive dysfunction, including brain fog is an increasingly recognized struggle for patients with rheumatic disease, with limited insight into its pathology and treatment options. The session will highlight recent advances into mechanisms governing CNS lupus, imaging approaches using functional MRI, as well as soluble biomarkers of cognitive dysfunction.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss mechanisms of neuropsychiatric disease in lupus
  • Describe novel biomarkers able to monitor cognitive function and mental well-being in lupus
  • Review imaging modalities, including functional MRI, to assess cognitive function in lupus
