One aspect of immune influence not currently well understood is the interplay of metabolic syndrome, obesity, and fat cells (adipocytes) in immune responses. In this session, recent work will be discussed that suggests obesity can alter the categories of immune responses, and may be targetable to modulate immunity. The reverse can also be true and the immune system can regulate features of adiposity. This session will also discuss the influence of cytokines and T-cells on lipids and adipocytes and the overall impact of this interplay on immune function.
