Despite transformational advances in drug discovery and development, nearly two billion people around the world remain without regular access to essential medicines needed to maintain health and prevent mortality. Communities in resource-limited settings are disproportionately impacted by this problem. In this Keynote Session, Dr. Jayasree Iyer, Chief Executive Officer of the Access to Medicines Foundation, will review the current state of access to medicines globally, and discuss the high-level stakeholders and factors that impact medication access and affordability. Importantly, she will highlight the innovative model her changemaking foundation has created to mobilize pharmaceutical companies to be partners and innovators in efforts to expand access of their products to the areas of greatest need.
