I received my MD and PhD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center where I studied the role of microRNAs in cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis in the laboratory of Eric Olson. I then completed my internal medicine residency and cardiovascular medicine fellowships at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as a member of the Harrison Society. Following my clinical training I completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the laboratory of David Harrison where I studied the role of the immune system in cardiovascular disease. I joined the faculty as an assistant professor of medicine and clinical pharmacology at Vanderbilt. My laboratory focuses on the study of cardiovascular disease in patients with systemic autoimmune conditions.
