Dr. Jaeyun Sung, Ph.D. is a computational biologist at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN), where he is currently a Senior Associate Consultant I and Assistant Professor in the Divisions of Rheumatology and Surgery Research and Center for Individualized Medicine’s Microbiome Program. He received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech, and then his MS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He completed postdoctoral fellowships at the Asia-Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (South Korea), and later at Massachusetts General Hospital and Broad Institute before joining Mayo Clinic in 2017. Since joining Mayo Clinic, Dr. Sung has dedicated his research to developing cutting-edge computational tools aimed at advancing precision medicine, particularly for patients suffering from autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. His independent biomedical data science research focuses on multi-omic data analyses for biomarker discovery, as well as understanding the substantial roles that human-associated microbial communities play in health and disease.
