Dr. Nan Shen is a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Shanghai Institute of Rheumatology and the Shanghai Clinical Research Center for Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases at Renji Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. He is also the Co-Director of the China-Australia Centre for Personalised Immunology. Dr. Shen received his medical degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and his PhD degree from the University of Amsterdam.
His research primarily focuses on the molecular dissection of disease pathways in systemic autoimmune diseases using functional genomics approaches and the development of novel biomarkers and interventions for the management of systemic lupus erythematosus. He has published over 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals, and his research contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Silver Snake Award for distinguished physicians from the Chinese government, the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, and the ACR Rheumatology Research Foundation Edmund L. Dubois, MD, Memorial Lectureship. Currently, Dr. Shen is serving as an Associate Editor for Arthritis Research & Therapy and the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases.
