Barbara Slusher, MSW, PA-C, DFAAPA is a Community Practice PA working to increase access to Rheumatolgy care in rural South Carolina. She completed her PA degree at the University of North Texas, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. Barbara started her career in medicine as a social worker which provides a unique and rich perspective on health and mental wellness.
Barbara blends her social work experience with her physician assistant medical training to treat the “whole” person recognizing that physical health is a composite of mental, emotional and physical wellness. Her clinical experience as a physician assistant spans multiple specialties to include: oncology, allergy/asthma, and rheumatology. She has spent greater than 17 years in the specialty of rheumatology as she enjoys the opportunity to educate, treat, and make a difference for patients with chronic rheumatic diseases.
Barbara has a strong commitment to education and service. In pursuit of lifelong learning and international cultural exchange, Barbara hosts foreign exchange students and regularly volunteers with medical missions both locally and internationally.
