Dr Park graduated from Boston University summa cum laude, and received her MD degree from the same institution in 2015 in a combined BS/MD program. She completed her internal medicine residency (primary care track) at Weill Cornell/New York Presbyterian Hospital in 2018 and fell in love with rheumatology during her elective. Dr Park went on to complete her clinical rheumatology training between 2018-2020, as well as additional two years as a postdoctoral research fellow during 2020-2022, under the mentorship of the division chief, Dr Joan Bathon. During those 2 years, she obtained an MSc in Biostatistics (Patient Oriented Research) from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. She was appointed assistant professor of medicine in July 2022.
Dr Park’s research has focused on heart failure (HF) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), as well as studying pulmonary and cardiotoxicity of DMARDs, including hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and methotrexate. She published a review article (Arthritis & Rheumatology) on HF in RA, on the evolution of diastolic function in RA patients without HF (Arthritis Research & Therapy), and the lack of association between HCQ and QTc interval in RA and lupus patients (Arthritis Research & Therapy). She is currently focusing on mass extraction of prevalence and risk factors for methotrexate induced interstitial lung disease from electronic health records utilizing bioinformatics methods.
